Citala’s Optical Shutters are flexible and exceptionally transparent. Based on Citala's proprietary APD™ display technology, the electrically operated Optical Shutters are durable, reliable, rugged and resistant to damage and adverse environmental conditions. Available in very large sizes, the shutter material is also thin, light-weight, and long-lasting. Onyx™ (the core of APD™ Optical Shutter technology) is coated on thin and flexible film substrates and is available in two standard shades. Additional coating formulations can be designed as an option. Manufactured using a high-yield, high-throughput roll-to-roll process, the APD™ Optical Shutter provides the designer with easy, inexpensive choices for creating designs that fit a wide variety of form-factors, sizes, and surface curvatures. The Optical Shutter has been manufactured and shipped in large quantities and is integrated by Citala’s customers into finished products in such markets as home appliances, visual devices, industrial inspection systems, signage, and architecture.
