Citala’s US-based roll-to-roll (R2R) manufacturing is state-of-the art with a track record of reliability. Citala was one of the first companies to offer genuine R2R manufacturing, enabling the production of large, cost-effective quantities. R2R enables solutions for patterning, coating, cutting, and combining different layers of customizable displays. Citala can manufacture flexible displays and optical shutters using the same line.

Citala’s manufacturing features speed and capacity, as well as high levels of uniformity and repeatability. It uses accurate equipment that can produce a pitch as narrow as 200 microns. All critical manufacturing takes place in clean rooms, which ensure the highest quality and consistency.
For optical shutter/privacy window applications, Citala’s R2R film coating capability is up to 24 inches and can be produced at lengths of up to 1,600 ft. The material is supplied as rolled film.
For display applications, Citala’s products can be manufactured in widths of up to 22.3 inches and as thin as 255 microns. Citala’s manufacturing can accommodate special display requirements, such as unique shapes. Moreover, the largely dry processes operate without hazardous waste and are environmentally friendly
Manufacturing takes place in Silicon Valley, California. Complete in-house production and APD™ display integration enable a quick response to customers’ specific demands. Electronics assembly also takes place in-house (for prototypes and small-medium quantities). Citala works with high-volume and low-cost partners to assemble larger volume displays.
Citala also offers flexible electronic solutions. It provides ASIC (Application Specific Integrated Circuits) design capabilities for special high-volume applications, and it can integrate complementary technologies: lighting solutions (front, back, or side) and interactive keypads. In addition, Citala offers full, in-house characterization and environmental (lifetime) testing to ensure that customers receive the highest quality.
